![]() ![]() And further, I suspect that there are notable differences in the +5k range of 2nd and 3rd gears based on how they feel at lower rpms. I have no real review of 4th and 5th to give b/c my riding style is such that I don't use the upper part of the power band in those gears. Speedo readings of 60 mph come quickly (not that they were slow with the stock equipment), and it just feels like it's got a heck of a lot left in it compared to before. It felt like it was hardly working to do 80 mph. A speed of 80 mph came REALLY quickly in 3rd gear from about a 40mph roll.and it just felt like it could go on and on. With the post-exhaust-change torque differences, the response of the bike in 3rd gear feels a lot like what it did in 2nd with the stock equipment. And I mean much more so than stock, or even what I can recall from the singular ride I took with JUST the pipe upgrade in mid October. One prominent thing I noticed on my short jaunt today is that 2nd and 3rd gear feel like they have a heck of a lot left in them. So the flash had the same effect on low-gear jerkiness as the TRE did. As the flash has removed timing and other restrictions, there is no need for the TRE anymore. Otherwise it's doing the same thing to the flashed ECU as it did the icking it into thinking it's in 4th gear all the time. You have to take the TRE off once you get flashed. I had no jerkiness or surging in low gears. It's not crazy high.but will sit around 1,000-1,100 I would guess. I found this to be true not only for the first few minutes, but for the entire time I rode today (maybe 15 min). So that's a plus in my book!Īlso, Scorp explained that the bike will idle a little higher for the first few minutes you crank it up as the computer has to "re-learn" the sensors and setting and such. While you do not get all of that back with a flash (nor would it be possible due to back pressure differences, etc, I think), I think that the difference between stock and exhaust+flash is not as noticeable as it was. I did not like the loss of low-end torque I experienced when changing from the stock exhaust. I plan on updating this also as I get more time in the saddle in the coming days. With all that in mind, here's a review of my experience thus far. Enter the decision to flash instead of paying $400-500 for a fuel controller. I simply won't be able to give a thorough review of any high speed runs on this thing.Ī note about my bike: Aside from a Track Day TRE, my bike was completely stock before October, at which time I put V&H Big Shots on and discovered I needed some fuel management b/c it blued the pipes after one 20 mile trip to test them out. In summary, I use the low-end of the torque and power band much more than the upper end. That's about the only flogging I give it. I like to wind 2nd gear out to about 60-70 mph (when the option is available) before I shift. I do not like to wind 1st gear out past 2500 rpm if I can help it b/c the shift to 2nd tends to be more difficult the higher you have gone in 1st in my experience. ![]() ![]() I typically cruise on the interstate (20 miles of it round trip to work, to which I ride the bike probably 75-80% of the time) at about 75-80mph according to my speedo. I've never had my bike to 100mph, so I don't wind this sucker out. I think that a little background on my riding style might reveal why. I thought I'd give a review of what I've experienced so far (installed it over the weekend, and rode it for the first time today on a 3 exit loop on the interstate).įirst off.my review is likely going to be somewhat limited in scope. ![]()
